Dense undergrowth of humid lowland and foothill rainforests, particularly in bamboo thickets, endemic to a restricted range in southeastern Peru.
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, accelerating 'tew-tew-tew-tew' call. Observe from a distance with extreme patience, focusing on subtle movements in the thick vegetation. A local guide is highly recommended.
