The Yellow-eyed Penguin, or Hoiho, is a rare and endangered penguin species endemic to New Zealand. It is distinguished by its pale yellow eyes and a yellow band extending from its eyes around the back of its head. This shy and solitary forest-nesting penguin faces significant conservation threats.
