The Buff-banded Rail is a widespread and adaptable rail found across Australasia and the Southwest Pacific. It is characterized by its buff-colored breast band, greyish-brown upperparts with white spots, and a reddish eye-stripe. It is often found in wet grassy areas and marshlands.
