Spotted
The Olive Greenbul is a rather uniform olive-green bulbul, living up to its name with minimal distinguishing marks beyond its overall coloration. It is a common species in its habitat.
Where to spot
Found in West Africa, inhabiting primary and secondary rainforests, forest edges, and dense thickets.
How to spot
Identification relies heavily on its uniform olive plumage and, most importantly, its vocalizations, which are often the best way to distinguish it from other similar-looking greenbuls.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its resident tropical habitat. Most active during daylight hours, especially in the early morning.
Despite its plain appearance, the Olive Greenbul plays an important ecological role as a disperser of seeds from various forest fruits it consumes.
