Spotted
The White-rimmed Warbler is a small, active warbler with an olive-green back, pale yellow underparts, and a distinctive broken white eye-ring, giving it its common name.
Where to spot
Resident in southeastern Brazil, eastern Paraguay, and northeastern Argentina.
How to spot
Look in the understory of humid forests, particularly near streams or in dense bamboo thickets. It often stays low and can be secretive. Listen for its thin, high-pitched song.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round within its resident forest habitats. More vocal during the local breeding season (Southern Hemisphere spring/summer).
This species is primarily a ground-forager, often observed hopping and searching for insects among the leaf litter in the dense undergrowth of subtropical and tropical forests.
