Spotted
The Uniform Woodcreeper is a rather plain, large woodcreeper, lacking strong patterns or streaking on its plumage. It forages on tree trunks and large branches in humid forests.
Where to spot
Inhabits the humid lowland and foothill forests of the western Amazon basin, found in eastern Peru, western Brazil, and parts of Bolivia.
How to spot
Look for its large size and plain brown plumage as it climbs tree trunks. Listen for its distinct vocalizations, which are often deep and resonant.
When to spot
Active year-round during daylight hours. Often observed foraging in the mid-story and canopy from morning to afternoon.
Its 'uniform' appearance makes careful observation of its bill shape, size, and vocalizations crucial for accurate identification, especially where it overlaps with similar species.
