The Tacarcuna Bush Tanager is a rare and localized songbird found only on a few isolated mountain ranges on the border of Panama and Colombia. It is a dull, olive-green bird.
Where to spot
Endemic to the isolated mountains of Cerro Tacarcuna and Cerro Malí on the border of eastern Panama and northwestern Colombia. Inhabits humid montane forests.
How to spot
If in its range, look for it in the understory of humid montane forests. Its plain olive-green plumage makes it difficult to spot; listen for its quiet calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round within its very limited range. Observation is challenging due to its remote habitat.
This species is named after the remote Tacarcuna mountain range, highlighting its very restricted and isolated habitat.
