The Spot-breasted Oriole is a strikingly colored songbird, featuring a brilliant orange body with a black mask and bib, and distinctive black spots on its orange breast and flanks. It is often found in tropical woodlands and gardens.
Where to spot
Native to Central America, from southern Mexico south to Honduras. Introduced and established in parts of Florida, USA. Inhabits open woodlands, forest edges, gardens, and urban areas.
How to spot
Look for its brilliant orange and black plumage, specifically the black spots on its breast. Listen for its loud, melodious, and variable whistling song, often delivered from a high perch.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active and vocal during the breeding season (spring/summer).
