The Slaty-winged Foliage-gleaner is a Furnariid named for its greyish, or slaty, wings that contrast with its warmer body plumage. It forages actively in dense forest foliage.
Where to spot
Found in humid lowland and foothill forests of western Amazonia, including parts of Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Brazil.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and subcanopy of humid forests, often within mixed-species flocks. Its slaty wings are a key identification feature. Listen for its distinctive calls.
When to spot
Active year-round. Most visible during early mornings.
This species often joins mixed-species foraging flocks, providing an opportunity to observe it alongside other forest birds.
