Where to spot
Inhabits the understory of humid foothill and montane forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes from southeastern Peru to northern Bolivia.
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, often high-pitched, soft calls. Patience is paramount, as they are exceptionally skulking and camouflaged.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon.
This species is known for its almost motionless perching behavior, making it incredibly difficult to spot until it calls or makes a short dash for prey.
