Spotted
The Roraiman Flycatcher is a species restricted to the tepui regions of the Guiana Highlands. It is named for its association with Mount Roraima and similar elevated habitats.
Where to spot
Humid montane forests and cloud forests on tepuis (tabletop mountains) in the Guiana Highlands of Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil.
How to spot
Look for its olive-green plumage. Scan the mid-story and understory of tepui forests. Listening for its calls is often the best way to detect this species in its restricted habitat.
When to spot
Year-round, often most active during the early morning.
This species is an example of an 'endemism' to the unique tepui ecosystems, isolated tabletop mountains that support distinct flora and fauna.
