The White-browed Tanager is a small, distinctive species. Males have a black body with a prominent white streak above the eye (the "brow") and a yellow patch on the lower back. Females are duller.

Humid foothill and lower montane forests on the Pacific slope of Colombia and northwestern Ecuador.
How to spot
Look for it in mixed-species flocks in the mid-canopy. Its black and white facial pattern is the best clue to its identity.

Year-round resident. Most active during morning foraging.
