Where to spot
Humid montane forests and cloud forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
How to spot
Search for it in mixed-species flocks, typically in the mid-to-upper canopy. Its distinctive facial pattern helps with identification.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed in the early morning when they are most active.
