The Rose Minivet is a beautiful and somewhat migratory minivet found in parts of Asia. Males display lovely pinkish-red underparts, contrasting with black upperparts, while females are yellowish.
Where to spot
Breeds in temperate forests of the Himalayas and East Asia, migrating south to Southeast Asia for the winter. Found in broadleaf and mixed forests.
How to spot
Look for them in the mid-to-upper canopy. Note the specific rosy coloration of the male. Listen for their high-pitched, often repetitive calls.
When to spot
Best observed during spring and autumn migration periods in transitional areas, or during summer in breeding grounds and winter in non-breeding grounds. Active during daylight.
