The Rose-ringed Parakeet, scientifically known as Psittacula krameri, is a highly adaptable and widely distributed parrot species belonging to the family Psittaculidae. Native to parts of Africa and the Indian subcontinent, it has successfully established numerous feral populations across the globe, becoming a common sight in urban parks and gardens far from its original range. Known for its striking green plumage and distinctive calls, this species is a popular bird among enthusiasts and a noticeable presence in many international cities.

Rose-ringed Parakeets are conspicuous birds. Their presence is often first indicated by their loud, high-pitched screeching calls, which are very distinctive. They are typically seen flying rapidly in cohesive flocks, often at high altitudes, or perched conspicuously on tree branches, rooftops, and wires. Their bright green plumage makes them relatively easy to spot against foliage, especially in flight. Observing them during feeding times on fruit trees or feeders can also be productive.
