Spotted
A medium-sized warbler with a rather plain greyish-brown plumage, a pale supercilium, and a relatively long tail. It is known for its secretive nature.
Where to spot
Montane forests, especially the understory and forest edges, in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe and adjacent Mozambique.
How to spot
This species is very skulking and difficult to see. Focus on listening for its distinctive, loud, and varied song, often a series of whistles and trills, which is the primary means of detection.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Most vocal during the breeding season (southern hemisphere spring/summer).
Roberts's Warbler is a localized endemic to a specific highland region, making it a target for birders visiting those particular montane forests.
