Where to spot
Found in a wide variety of wooded habitats, including broadleaf forests, mixed forests, and gardens, from the Himalayas to Southeast Asia and China.
How to spot
Look for its very long, graduated blue tail, vivid blue body, black head, and prominent red bill. Listen for its loud, varied, and sometimes harsh calls. It is often quite bold and conspicuous.
When to spot
Active year-round during daylight hours. Often seen in noisy groups or pairs.
