Spotted
A tiny and unassuming flowerpecker, the Lesser Flowerpecker is similar in appearance to the Plain Flowerpecker, with dull olive-green upperparts and pale underparts. It is a highly active species, often found in the forest canopy.
Where to spot
Distributed across parts of Southeast Asia, including the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, and some Philippine islands, inhabiting forests and forest edges.
How to spot
Look for very small, fast-moving birds in the canopy or mid-story. Its plain plumage can make it difficult to spot, so listen for its high-pitched, quick calls.
When to spot
Active year-round, with peak foraging activity occurring in the early morning and late afternoon.
