The Páramo Pipit is a pipit species found in the high-altitude páramo grasslands of the Andes in South America. It is adapted to the cool, often wet, conditions of this unique ecosystem.
Where to spot
High-altitude páramo and puna grasslands in the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela.
How to spot
Requires trekking to high Andean elevations. Look for it foraging on the ground amidst tussock grasses. Its calls and subtle plumage differences are important for identification.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Best observed during the day.
