A secretive and rather plain bush-robin endemic to Mindanao Island. It inhabits dense montane forests, often close to the ground.
Where to spot
Montane forests on Mindanao, Philippines, usually at elevations above 1000 meters.
How to spot
Requires quiet and patient observation in its dense forest habitat. Listen for rustling in the leaf litter as it forages.
When to spot
Best sought during the early morning. It is a resident species.
This species is named after Walter Goodfellow, a British ornithologist and explorer. It's an important part of Mindanao's unique avifauna.
