Where to spot
Endemic to a very small and threatened area of marshy grasslands in southeastern Brazil, particularly in Paraná and Santa Catarina states.
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, rapid, and mechanical calls. It is extremely shy and difficult to see, moving stealthily through dense reeds and tall grass. Patience and knowledge of its vocalizations are crucial.
When to spot
Most active and vocal during early morning and late afternoon. Can be observed year-round in its specific marsh habitat.
