Spotted
Livingstone's Flycatcher is a small, attractive bird with a rufous cap, a greyish back, and bright yellow underparts, similar in appearance to its relatives. It is an active inhabitant of riparian forests.
Where to spot
Inhabits riparian forests, dense riverine thickets, and woodlands, often near water, across parts of Southern and East Africa.
How to spot
Look for its distinctive rufous cap and bright yellow belly. It moves actively through the lower and mid-canopy. Listen for its short, high-pitched calls.
When to spot
Observable year-round in its resident range. Most active during the day, often accompanying mixed-species flocks.
This flycatcher often forages by gleaning insects from the undersides of leaves, a common strategy among small, agile forest birds.
