The Juniper Titmouse is a plain, crested titmouse species of western North America, very similar in appearance to the Oak Titmouse but preferring arid juniper and pinyon-juniper woodlands.
Where to spot
Found in the interior western United States, primarily in arid juniper and pinyon-juniper woodlands.
How to spot
Look in juniper and pinyon woodlands. It's best distinguished from the Oak Titmouse by habitat and slight vocal differences. Listen for its nasal, repetitive 'tsee-day-day-day' calls.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Active throughout the day, particularly mornings.

Juniper Titmice are highly dependent on juniper and pinyon pine seeds for food, especially during winter, and will cache large quantities of them in tree crevices.
