Josephine's Lorikeet is a beautiful and somewhat larger lorikeet species found in the mountains of New Guinea. It features a striking blend of red, green, and blue plumage.
Where to spot
Mid-altitude montane forests of New Guinea.
How to spot
Look for them feeding in the upper canopy of flowering trees. Their calls are high-pitched and somewhat trilling, characteristic of lorikeets.
When to spot
Year-round, active throughout the day, particularly when foraging for nectar and pollen.
