Where to spot
Native to arid and semi-arid grasslands, woodlands, and scrublands across inland Australia. Feral populations exist worldwide due to escapes from captivity.
How to spot
Look for its small size, bright green and yellow plumage, and undulating flight pattern when in flocks. Listen for their continuous, chattering calls and soft chirps, which are characteristic of large groups.
When to spot
Active during daylight hours, often seen in huge, noisy flocks, especially around waterholes. Most visible in the early morning and late afternoon. Nomadic movements vary seasonally.
