Spotted
This hybrid combines the robust characteristics of the Greylag Goose with the more elegant features of the Swan Goose. Its appearance often varies, typically showing a grey-brown body with potential hints of the Swan Goose's longer neck or bill shape.
Where to spot
Commonly found in zoological collections, waterfowl parks, or wherever feral populations of domestic geese (derived from these species) interbreed. Less common as a truly wild hybrid.
How to spot
Look for geese with mixed grey-brown plumage, potentially showing a slightly longer neck than a pure Greylag, or a less prominent bill knob than a domestic Swan Goose. Their behavior might be intermediate between the two parent species.
When to spot
Year-round in captive settings. In the wild, observation is opportunistic and depends on the seasonal presence of the parent species.

Both the Greylag and Swan Goose are foundational ancestors for many domestic goose breeds worldwide, making this hybrid particularly interesting in the context of poultry domestication history.
