Spotted
The Green Mango is a predominantly iridescent green hummingbird found on specific Caribbean islands. It notably lacks the prominent black central stripe of many other 'mango' species, appearing uniformly emerald green.
Where to spot
Endemic to the islands of Puerto Rico and Hispaniola, primarily found in humid forests, coffee plantations, and shady gardens, often in higher elevations.
How to spot
Identify by its overall iridescent green plumage without a prominent black breast stripe. Look for it in dense forest habitats where it can be surprisingly well-camouflaged, and listen for its distinctive calls.
When to spot
Active during daylight, frequently seen at flowering trees and shrubs, particularly in the cooler parts of the day when it's actively foraging.

Unlike many of its 'mango' relatives, the Green Mango is almost entirely iridescent green, making it distinct and surprisingly challenging to spot among dense foliage despite its vibrant color.
