Widespread in humid tropical lowland forests, forest edges, and gallery forests across the Amazon Basin, including parts of the Guianas, Brazil, Venezuela, and Colombia.
How to spot
Listen for its distinctive, sharp 'psit' or 'seet' calls, often given by multiple birds in a group. Look for its green plumage and colourful bill as it hops actively through the mid to upper canopy, often following fruiting trees.

Active year-round. Most vocal and visible during the early morning and late afternoon. Breeding season (varies regionally) sees increased activity.
