The Grey-headed Munia is a small finch found in New Guinea, easily recognized by its grey head and brown body. It is often found in flocks.
Where to spot
Endemic to New Guinea, inhabiting grasslands, cultivated areas, and forest clearings, particularly in the lowlands.

Look for its distinctive grey head contrasting with a brown body. They are often seen foraging on the ground or in low vegetation. Listen for their chattering calls.
When to spot
Can be observed year-round. They are very common and active, especially when foraging in flocks.
