Lowland rainforests and moist evergreen forests in West Africa, primarily from Sierra Leone to Ghana.
How to spot
Look on the forest floor in dense, humid forests, especially near water. Its somewhat drab plumage and secretive nature make it challenging to spot. Listen for its calls.
