Spotted
The Grey-chinned Minivet is a beautiful and somewhat widespread minivet found in parts of Asia. Males are distinguished by their grey chin and throat, contrasting with their bright orange or red underparts.
Where to spot
Inhabits broadleaf evergreen forests, pine forests, and mixed woodlands, often at higher elevations, across parts of South and Southeast Asia.
How to spot
Scan the canopy and outer branches of trees. Listen for their distinctive, often high-pitched whistling calls. Look for flashes of orange/red as they move between branches.
When to spot
Active during daylight hours, frequently seen foraging in the mid-canopy and upper canopy. Breeding season is typically spring/summer, but can be observed year-round as residents or migrants.
