Where to spot
Widespread in humid montane and foothill forests from Venezuela and Colombia south through Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. Also found in parts of Brazil and Argentina.

Look for this species in the canopy or mid-story of humid forests, particularly around fruiting trees. The male's blue crown is distinctive. Listen for their soft, high-pitched, somewhat sibilant calls, which often precede a sighting.
When to spot
Resident year-round. Best observed during early morning or late afternoon when they are most active, foraging for fruits in the canopy.
