How to spot

Primarily nocturnal, active from dusk to dawn, though occasionally seen hunting in low light during the day.

Unlike many owls that hunt from perches, the Eastern Grass Owl often hunts by quartering low over grasslands, similar to a harrier, using its acute hearing to locate prey hidden in dense vegetation.
