Dybowski's Twinspot is a beautiful and somewhat shy finch found in parts of Central and West Africa. Males are particularly striking with their grey head, brown back, and red underparts adorned with white spots.
Where to spot
Distributed in grasslands, savannas, and forest edges across Central and West Africa, including Cameroon, Central African Republic, and Uganda.
How to spot
Look for it foraging on the ground or in low bushes, often in dense cover. The red underparts with white spots are unmistakable for males.
When to spot
Year-round, but can be secretive. Best observed during early morning or late afternoon.
The twinspots are named for the distinctive white spots that dot their flanks and belly, a beautiful and consistent plumage feature.
