Spotted
The Dusky Tit is a somewhat elusive tit species found in dense forests of Central and West Africa. Its dark, dusky plumage helps it blend into the shadowy understory.
Where to spot
Inhabits primary and secondary lowland rainforests and moist montane forests across Central and West Africa.
How to spot
Focus on the mid to lower canopy in dense forest patches. Listen for its quiet calls and look for subtle movements in the foliage. Binoculars are highly recommended due to its dark plumage and habitat.
When to spot
Observable year-round. Typically active during morning and late afternoon when foraging.
Unlike many tits that prefer open woodlands, the Dusky Tit is more often found in the darker, denser parts of tropical forests, making it harder to spot.
