Where to spot
Found in montane forests across the Philippines (Luzon, Mindoro, Negros, Panay) and parts of Borneo and Sumatra. It prefers high-elevation primary and secondary forests.
How to spot
Look for the male's bright blue and orange plumage, noting the distinct line where the colors meet. It often perches in the mid-canopy. Listen for its short, clear calls.
When to spot
A resident species, observable year-round. Most active in the early morning and late afternoon, foraging for insects among the foliage.
This flycatcher is particularly adapted to high-altitude environments, often found in misty, mossy forests where it navigates the dense canopy with agility.
