The Crested Treeswift is a distinctive and elegant bird known for the prominent crest on its head. Unlike true swifts, treeswifts regularly perch openly on tree branches.
Where to spot
Found across the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia, inhabiting dry forests, woodlands, and plantations.
How to spot
Look for it perched high on bare branches of emergent trees, often calling. The prominent crest and overall grayish plumage are key identification features.
When to spot
Year-round resident, active during the day. Often seen perched conspicuously during the cooler parts of the morning and evening.
