The Coppery-chested Tanager is a beautiful species with iridescent blue plumage and a distinctive coppery-orange wash on its breast. It inhabits montane forests.
Where to spot
Inhabits humid montane forests and cloud forests, primarily at moderate elevations in the Western and Central Andes of Colombia and Ecuador.
How to spot
Look for it in the mid-story and canopy, often within mixed-species flocks. The coppery chest and blue body are excellent field marks.
When to spot
Active year-round. Best observed in the early morning when foraging for fruit and insects.
