The Common Miner is a widespread and familiar terrestrial bird of open, arid habitats, known for its ground-dwelling habits. Its sandy-brown plumage provides excellent camouflage.

Widespread in open, arid and semi-arid habitats, grasslands, and agricultural areas across most of southern South America, from Peru south to Patagonia.
