The Chinchipe Spinetail is a recently described species of ovenbird, restricted to the dry forest and scrub of the Chinchipe Valley. It resembles other spinetails but has subtle plumage differences.

Dry scrub, thorny forest, and riparian zones within the Chinchipe Valley of northern Peru.
How to spot
Requires dedicated searching within its specific valley habitat. Listen for its distinctive calls, and look for movements in dense, low vegetation. Local knowledge is highly beneficial.
