Where to spot
Open woodlands, cultivated areas, and forest edges in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia, including Indochina and southern China.

Identify by its grey upperparts, white belly, and noticeable chestnut-colored tail and vent. Often seen in flocks foraging in trees or on the ground.
When to spot
Year-round resident in some areas, migratory in others. Best observed during daylight hours.
The Chestnut-tailed Starling exhibits a strong migratory pattern in some parts of its range, moving between breeding grounds in the Himalayas and wintering areas further south.
