Spotted
Chapman's Bristle Tyrant is a localized species of the Guianan Shield, named after ornithologist Frank M. Chapman. It inhabits humid montane forests.
Where to spot
Humid montane forests on tepuis (tabletop mountains) in the Guiana Highlands of southeastern Venezuela and adjacent Brazil.
How to spot
Look for its small size and olive-green plumage. It can be inconspicuous, so patience is required. Listening for its specific calls is often the best way to locate it in its restricted habitat.
When to spot
Year-round, often most active during early mornings.
This species is typically found in the unique 'tepui' habitats, isolated tabletop mountains that support distinctive and often endemic biodiversity.
