Spotted
A localized apalis with grey upperparts, a paler face, and whitish underparts, similar in general appearance to some other apalises but distinct in its range and subtle features.
Where to spot
Montane forests, primarily in the mid-strata, in a restricted range in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
How to spot
Difficult to observe due to its restricted range and often high-altitude, dense habitat. Focus on listening for its high-pitched, repetitive calls, which help in detection.
When to spot
Year-round resident. Active throughout the day. Breeding season information is limited.
Chapin's Apalis is named after James P. Chapin, a prominent American ornithologist known for his extensive work on African birds.
