The Rufous-vented Thrasher is a medium-sized Caribbean thrasher, recognized by its dark brown plumage, long, decurved bill, and a noticeable rufous patch under its tail. It has a distinctive tremulous foraging style.
Where to spot
Found on several islands in the Lesser Antilles, including Saint Vincent, Saint Lucia, and Martinique, inhabiting humid montane forests and dense undergrowth.
How to spot
Look for its dark brown body, long decurved bill, and the rufous undertail coverts. Watch for its unique body trembling while foraging. Listen for its rich, melodic song.
When to spot
Can be observed throughout the year. Most active during the early morning and late afternoon when foraging.
