Spotted
Böhm's Flufftail is a migratory wetland bird found across parts of sub-Saharan Africa. Like other flufftails, it is secretive and predominantly located by its distinctive vocalizations.
Where to spot
Seasonal swamps, marshes, and damp grasslands in various parts of sub-Saharan Africa, often associated with rainfall.
How to spot
Be in the correct seasonal habitat. Listen for its rapid, accelerating 'pip-pip-pip' call. It is notoriously difficult to flush or see, so patience is key.
When to spot
During the breeding season when they are most vocal, typically during the rainy season in their respective ranges. Best at dawn and dusk.
