Blyth's Tragopan is a critically endangered and magnificent pheasant, notable for the male's vibrant red and orange plumage. It is one of the largest tragopan species.
Where to spot
Found in dense evergreen and mixed forests in parts of northeast India, northern Myanmar, and parts of China.
How to spot
Requires extensive and challenging trekking in remote, high-altitude forests. Look for signs of foraging, such as disturbed leaf litter, and listen for their resonant calls.
When to spot
Extremely elusive; best chances for observation are during the quiet hours of early morning or late afternoon.
