Where to spot
Found in the Himalayan foothills and parts of Southeast Asia, including northern India, Nepal, Bhutan, and China. It inhabits scrub, open forest, and bamboo thickets.

When to spot
A year-round resident, but its black throat is most evident during the breeding season (spring/summer).
