Where to spot
Endemic to the Bismarck Archipelago of Papua New Guinea, found on various islands including New Britain and New Ireland. Inhabits lowland and montane forests.

Males are easily identified by their bright yellow underparts, contrasting black head, and often a black breast band. Females are duller. Listen for its loud, clear, and complex whistling songs that carry through the forest.
