Endemic to the Whiteman Mountains of New Britain, Papua New Guinea. It inhabits montane rainforests, typically at elevations between 1,000 and 1,700 meters above sea level.

This is a small, rather plain myzomela, primarily olive-brown with a pale belly. Its identification relies on its restricted range and subtle plumage features, often seen moving through the mid-story and canopy. Listen for high-pitched calls.
