When to spot
Active year-round, highly vocal during the breeding season (spring-summer in New Zealand). Often seen at flowering trees.

The Tūī has a unique dual voice box (syrinx) which allows it to produce a remarkable range of calls, including bell-like notes, clicks, and gurgles, some of which are outside the range of human hearing.
